Mount Baldo is considered Europe´s garden for its numerous endemic plants and animal species, among which there are many peculiar birds. More than 50 different bird species nest in the area of Rifugio Monte Baldo, including the golden eagle, the black woodpecker, the grey-headed woodpecker, the red-backed shrike and the yellowhammer. Mount Baldo is also a stop in bird migrations coming from North-Eastern Europe and directed to their overwintering quarters in Africa.
During the course, various themes will be discussed: how to recognize birds from their calls, observation of autumn migration, biodiversity and forest biomarkers, positioning of camera traps to monitor mammals, footprint recognition and other presence indicators, visit of Baldo´s natural forests and dendrochronology.

Positioning of the camera traps, bird watching of Passo (in Cornapiana or Corno della Paura)
Saturday October 12
Tour to the beech and pine forests of Monte Baldo
Sunday October 13
Fauna observation near the Rifugio, retrieval of camera traps and vision of the footage.
The course ends at 3 p.m.

Participants must have the following material with them, to ensure a successful course:
- trekking shoes
- adequate clothes
- notebook and binoculars

The cours will be held at the Rifugio Monte Baldo from 11-13 October 2019 from 9.30 - 12.30 / lunch break 14:00 - 18:00.
The total cost per person is:
Double Room €210,00
Single Room €250,00 (limited availability)
The cost includes:
- lessons of the cours by Luigi Marchesi
- stay at the Rifugio with full board for 3 days
The course is open to beginners and experts, older than 14. Minors need a delegation from their parents, who must be staying in our facility. Minimum number of participants is 6, max 10. Requests and course description can be asked at info@rifugiomontebaldo.it no later than 5 October 2019.
